Mechanical Technician (Gas)

The role includes performing field inspections of pressure regulating stations, metering skid systems, and associated facilities; supporting contractor supervision; ensuring gas safety compliance and adherence to applicable regulatory and standards requirements; assisting with construction and commissioning activities; and maintaining technical records and reports in line with company and regulatory requirements.

III. PRINCIPAL DUTIES: 1. Operate and maintain the natural gas distribution network including carbon steel pipelines, PRS/PRMS stations, metering skids, valves, fittings, and above-ground facilities. 2.

Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, including valve operation, regulator inspection and adjustment, flange tightening, component replacement, and minor mechanical repairs. 3. Execute gas purging, venting, commissioning, decommissioning, and pressure monitoring activities using approved equipment and calibrated instruments. 4.

Respond to gas leaks, abnormal pressure conditions, and equipment failures by isolating affected sections and ensuring safe reinstatement. 5. Ensure compliance with approved procedures and applicable standards (IGEM, ASME, NFPA, Saudi Aramco, and local regulations). 6.

Troubleshoot PRS components, regulators, valves, and metering skids through inspections, pressure checks, adjustments, and mechanical repairs. 7. Conduct routine network patrolling, visual inspections, and gas leak detection to identify leaks, corrosion, damage, or abnormal conditions. 8.

Support pipeline tie-ins, shutdowns, live gas works, and new connections under approved PTW and safety controls. 9. Coordinate with the control room and HSE during operational, emergency, and reinstatement activities. 10. Comply with HSE requirements, PTW, JSA, and risk assessments. 11.

Ensure field instruments, safety devices, and emergency equipment are functional and calibrated. 12. Participate in safety drills, audits, and incident investigations. 13. Supervise contractors during gas-related work and coordinate with stakeholders, HSE teams, control room/SCADA, and customers. 14.

Maintain accurate records, update O&M logs and checklists, and support technical and handover documentation. A. EDUCATION: Diploma or Technical Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Gas Engineering or related discipline B. EXPERIENCE: 3-6 years of experience in gas operations and maintenance on live natural gas distribution networks. C.

LANGUAGE: Excellent command of oral and written English is required D. PREFERRED TRANING AND CERTIFICATES: • Gas Safety / Authorized Gas Technician certification. • H2S Awareness • First Aid & Firefighting • Confined Space Entry • Valid Saudi driving license. E.

Technical Competencies: • Competency in operating and maintaining gas distribution networks safely and efficiently • Capability in performing inspections, troubleshooting, and minor mechanical repairs, and providing practical recommendations • Acumen in gas safety standards, regulatory compliance, and HSE procedure • Knowledge of operational governance, process adherence, and quality assurance in field activities.

• Awareness of network performance monitoring, leak detection accuracy, and documentation management.
