Logistics Manager

Translate functional goals into team-level operational plans and coordinate their execution. Monitor and track execution progress and report on performance against targets. Budget and Financial Monitoring Support and manage budget preparation and implement cost control within the team. Track expenditures and report variances in line with approved budgets.

Common Accountabilities Manage day-to-day operations and ensure delivery of targets in line with plans. Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency. Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and operational standards. People Management Manage and supervise team members, setting clear objectives and expectations.

Monitor and track team performance, providing regular feedback to ensure delivery. Support and coordinate employee development and training initiatives. Coordination Coordinate team activities to ensure smooth execution of operational plans. Coordinate with internal stakeholders to resolve operational issues and support delivery.

Import & Export Logistics & Distribution Develop and execute end-to-end import and export logistics strategies to ensure timely, cost-effective, and compliant movement of materials and finished goods. Establish and maintain SOPs for logistics, transportation, warehousing, customs clearance, and distribution processes.

Develop transportation plans, route optimization, and shipment schedules to meet business requirements while minimizing freight costs and transit times. Manage inbound and outbound logistics operations, including freight forwarding, customs brokerage, warehousing, inventory movements, and final distribution.

Identify, evaluate, negotiate, and manage logistics service providers, including freight forwarders, customs brokers, transport companies, shipping lines, airlines, and third-party logistics providers (3PLs). Establish and monitor KPIs, KRAs, SLAs, and TATs to evaluate logistics partner performance and drive continuous improvement.

Ensure safe handling, storage, loading, unloading, and transportation of products in compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory requirements. Monitor shipment status and proactively resolve transportation, customs, and delivery issues to ensure on-time customer deliveries.

Drive logistics process improvements and cost optimization initiatives through route optimization, freight consolidation, and operational excellence practices. Documentation & Compliance Develop and maintain a centralized repository for all import and export documentation, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and audit readiness.

Ensure timely preparation, verification, and compliance of all statutory shipping documents, including Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists, Bills of Lading, Air Waybills, Certificates of Origin, permits, licenses, and customs declarations.

Ensure full compliance with customs regulations, international trade laws, Incoterms, and destination country requirements. Maintain 100% accuracy of Harmonized System (HS) Codes and customs classifications across all products. Monitor changes in import/export regulations and communicate compliance requirements to internal stakeholders and logistics partners.

Maintain accurate logistics records to support customs, financial, and regulatory audits while preventing delays, penalties, demurrage, detention, and cargo seizure. Commercial & Financial Management Develop and manage the annual logistics budget, monitor expenditures, and implement cost control measures to achieve financial targets.

Coordinate with Procurement, Finance, and Legal logistics contracts, freight agreements, vendor onboarding, and commercial compliance. Review and monitor freight invoices, Purchase Requisitions (PRs), Purchase Orders (POs), logistics accruals, and vendor payments to ensure contractual compliance and timely settlement.

Lead freight sourcing, carrier negotiations, and logistics tenders to optimize service levels and reduce transportation costs. Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimize logistics operating expenses (OPEX) and overall supply chain efficiency.

Stakeholder Management Collaborate with Procurement, Supply Chain, Sales, Manufacturing, Finance, Quality, and Customer Service teams to align logistics operations with business requirements.

Build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers, customers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, transport providers, warehouses, regulatory authorities, and insurance providers. Develop logistics performance dashboards and provide regular reports on service levels, costs, compliance, and operational performance.

Lead regular business reviews with logistics partners to monitor performance, address operational issues, and drive continuous improvement. Risk Management & Quality Assurance Conduct logistics risk assessments and implement mitigation plans to ensure business continuity across import and export operations.

Develop contingency plans (Plan B) for supply chain disruptions, including geopolitical events, natural disasters, transportation failures, and port congestion. Ensure adequate cargo insurance coverage and manage insurance claims to minimize financial risk.

Monitor logistics risks including customs delays, cargo damage, inventory losses, demurrage, detention, and regulatory non-compliance, implementing corrective actions where required. Ensure compliance with company quality, safety, and regulatory standards while driving continuous improvement in logistics performance and customer service.
